January 30 HA!Mom I realise you have no confidence in my knitting and you think Noah will grow to much before this sweater every gets finished, but I thought ahead! Ive made it for 1-2 year old size! so that he can wear it now and hopefully still be able to wear it next winter as well.. and yes I realise March it starts to pretend to warm up but there are days here that a sweater is needed and as this isnt a really THICK sweater its just perfect! :)
I finished the FRONT of the sweater so I now only need to knit 2 arms (obviously!!) sew it all together do the neck and its completely finished! :) I WILL finish this BEFORE his birthday!
I just had to update and let yall know that I have finished the sweater! January 29 Weekends over....Alright, so I didnt finish up the front of the baby sweater yet.. But I am NEARLY there! I could have finished it up if I didnt start farting around last night and today. While I worked on it today I also managed to do other things, like start a sock from toe up, how well thats going to work out, Im not sure yet! As supposedly my gauge is bigger then what they call for but the sock itself looks REALLY tiny Im not sure Ill give it some more time (AFTER FINISHING BABY SWEATER!!) before calling it a complete waste of time or calling it my neices sock! HAHA
As for the sweater I have worked up to shaping for the neck. I am working just the one side right now and am needing to knit about 1.5 inches before shaping the shoulder and casting off to work the center then the left side of the neck/shoulder should be finished by umm FRIDAY! HAHA Give myself till then that way if those socks get in my way I can say I have till friday for the sweater! :) And hey its not due to be completed till March so Ive got all of Feb to fart about on the arms and most of March! :)
Other then that Ive not really done much but figured I had better give a quick update on the sweater Im really happy that once I decided to sit down and work on it, just how far I did manage to get on it!

I suppose at the end of the day its going to make very little difference to me as long as I can post my pictures, post my messages, and add links I dont care what they do! HAHA
okay so onto what Ive done last night/this morning... well morning nothing.. but anyways... yesterday got my hair cut, I didnt realise until I brushed it/was playing with it.. Come on dont tell me after you get a new cut you dont play with your hair? HAHA.. anyways I didnt realise it was as short as it was.. its still passed my shoulders which classes it as long, but its short.... well 4 inches or so shorter eventually I do plan on taking it down to my waist,,, I want super long hair you see....
For knitting what did I do you ask? I KNITTED! still working on the baby sweater, and I have I think 7 more rows to do before finishing 3 repeat... yes it is going slower then I thought it would but like I said I keep getting confused where Im at and mking sure Im still reading the same row and havent gone down three rows and reading that one instead... But its coming along and thats all Im really bothered by. :)
Yesterday when I was in town I popped in and seen one of the ladies I knew from the gym when I was going there shes really nice, older irish lady... But that was nice seeing her again I dont pop in enough well more I just dont like to because shes working and really you shouldnt bother people when they are working... Aint that right mom? Shouldnt you be working and not reading? hey who cares you deserve a break! HAHA LOVE YA!
Alright off now to go do my friday morning thing of getting myself all dolled up.... January 26 So did I?I know your all dying to know if I worked on the baby sweater yesterday, well your answer is, yes I did! I got the full second repeat finished (and I looked at it, and it seems there will be nearly 4 of them when all is said and done.) and Im working on my 3rd but I had to put it all down last night about 9 and crawl into bed, was tired and had a headache... Mind you I layed there for probably 3 hours before finally going to sleep... But today after I go get me hair cut Im going to come home and knit.. and Im going to spend another good evening attacking it with all the knitting force I can muster... so lets all say very loudly "MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU" Sorry Starwars I know thats not what you ment that line for but tuff!
And mom, I know Ill be alright with the sweater the wrist warmers are only ever going to be a second thought of hmm Ill do those when I dont feel like doing other things but I swear I will eventually have them done.... and thanks for the new name to look out for... What about country singers, whos good these days? we get no country music over here, or if we do I cant seem to find it on the radio.
Its been cold here the last couple of days, no snow, but its been cold... Poor Marks had to defrost the windscreen the last couple of mornings and his deicer I got is rubbish so he ends up taking the cap off to poor on because its not and aresole one. They are saying we MIGHT get some snow, tell ya what i wouldnt mind a bit, dont think he will be happy with it, but I will! HAHAH.. So anyways me feets been cold at night, last night I finally did the smart thing and used my socks Ive knitted myself FOR this purpose and wore them to bed, I had toasty feet all night! it was lovely....
and now Im off, check email, wake up and get ready to go to town to get me hair cut... probably end up with the same look but Im going to look for something different.. no I wont.. I like my hair long... anything different will be short and I dont get on with short hair annoys me because if I want to pull it up I never can fully.... right Im off! January 25 Guilty....Ive not knitted much the last couple days, in fact I havent touched the baby sweater... I really must pick up my needles on that today! Ive been looking around online at places that help with making a sweater all on your own so you can do it the way you want, wich is brilliant, minus one thing and that is, Ive got a baby sweater that needs knitting! HAHAHA Not to mention I been looking around for glove/wrist warmer style patterns that I like... blah cant find any, so I spent the other night casted on x amount of stitches and was doing a lacey like rib pattern to make my own, that way they would keep me warmish but look really cool, sorta defeats the purpose of them, but whatever! HAHA So after getting I dont know how many rows done, but a couple I looked at it and had to laugh really loudy as well... Because all my knitting was pointless, it was to small and might have wrapped around a small childs wrist, but not mine.... so thats why I spent my knitting on... Then yesterday I decided to use some 4ply yarn that I have sitting around double it and try to do some 2x2 ribbed very plain wrist warmers.. they are sitting over there, I might finish them one of these days, but I really must pick up the baby sweater and work on it! Im being very good and not even looking at the yarn that I got the other day for the Olympic knitting, though i do need to knit up a swatch eventually and make sure I dont need to adjust anything on the pattern... its all that eventaully one day,,, Ill do it soon sorta stuff going on... Im a scatter brain it seems alot of the times when it comes to knitting.. I really must sit down and just do something. I honestly do once I sit down and decide that is what I must do..... So today I MUST do baby sweater...... hmmm..... January 23 Got sidetracked!But I was useful in my getting sidetracked....
NOW Im off to go get a couple things done! :) If any other Knitting Olympian comes by here, please feel free to take, or if you have something in mind that you would like made, but cant do it yourself, just ask, if I can do it, Ill try my hardest to make it! :) why is it so hard?All that I want to do is listen to some music, but I dont want the radio.....
So lets think about this, if I dont want the radio how about picking out a nice RECORD (yep a record not cd!) and put that on to play.... EXCELLENT idea! Tra la la off I go get the record I want to listen to get it set to the side so I can take the current record off see what it is and put it properly away so as not to dirty it up or more importantly scratch it... Can I get the stupid spindle off to be able to see the blasted record to be able to play it?? OF COURSE NOT! ARG! I dont know whats going on but I cant get it off, I think my darling Marks tightened it up a bit to much for weak lil me!!!
Alright now I cant listen to the record I want, thats alright, dust myself off relaxe you can still play a cd off the computer OR listen to some MP3s you have right? OF COURSE!... Its simple enough just click on the files,,, WHAT NO SOUND??? HUH??? Whats up with this??? Alright lets have a look... sure enough, I GOT NO SOUND! ARG!!! My darling Mark forgot to hook me up with some sound when he lovingly did the fresh install for me. I dont blame him, I would leave me without sound as well for having to do the instal! HAHAHA But to bad leaving me without sound doesnt shut me up! Now see I dont use the sound on here that often, but every now and again I fancy listening to some music off the computer and as the cds we have gotta be played off the computer they do come in handy.... So now I will have to ask politely for him to install my sound drivers because I dont know which cd it is I gotta put in... Come on me know what Im doing on a computer? YEAH RIGHT! I know how to turn it on and off, and do a couple other odd bits but to get it actually working Im a bit of a ditz.....
So now I have no records, or cds that I can play I am forced to either listen to the radio, listen to a tv music channel or borrow darlings machine while doing the dishes and being out in the kitchen.. hmm Im off to do the dishes and boogie... heres to not booging to hard that I drop anything and break it! Goodness knows Im good at breaking glasses all on my own! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Oh yeah and the baby sweater, Ive gotten a couple more rows knit to that, and yes mom I will have left over yarn and I will gladly knit you up a small swatch and send it your way hopefully when you get it, the colour from there to your screen is not far off! :) January 22 And the colour is....I know you have all been waiting to know the colour so Ill give you a peek at that, but not the pattern so far! :P Oh I love being mean sometimes! BAHAHA...
There is the colour!!! Its a bluey grey, but more blue! colour, it is pretty... Just slightly unoriginal for a boys pattern?HAHAHA They called for a tan colour orginally but I couldnt find it,, and I really liked that colour in the shop so that is why I picked it.. Ive done a couple more rows, and have finished the first 18 rows and am now working on the next 18 have only done 3 so far, so as you can see its a very good thing I started this sweater now because I JUST might finish it in time the way Im going... Actually I WILL finish it in time because its a gift so there for it MUST be done..... MMM dinner is being cooked and its smelling good so I must go and see if my darling wonderful sweet bf needs any help with it... That or Ill just go stand in there and drool over it while he finishes it! HAHAHAHAH January 21 Just updating..I just realised I havent actually shown the finished Very Tall socks I did for Natalie... Heres picture of them.
I took a picture of the baby sweater Im working on with the finished back and the first 22 rows of the front but like I said before no pictures until its finished. That way if it take me a year to do no one sees it! AHHAAHAHHAHAHAHA it is slightly annoying and fiddly this front, easy enough to do but just fiddly and i keep getting confused at how many stitches into the row Im at so its counting and following along... but my thoughts is that its going to be worth it when I do finally finish it. :) Last night as well i ripped apart that fuzzy scarf I knitted a couple months back, i think Im going to do some sort of bag with it. I cant wear it, it is far to itchy and I dare not give that itch fest to anyone else and make them suffer with it. I dont really know how anyone could make anything with it and be happy, but then Im not like most people I like soft fluffy things not long haired scratchy things. hahah Right off to go knit some more of the baby sweater! :) January 19 Random is as random does...Alright I went to town and got my hair done, its so pretty! :) And her name is Alex, how dare I forget that because she is a really sweet girl and I love going down and letting her do my hair! :)
So while I was down there I stopped in the yarn store and got the yarn to do my sweater... Im going to knit up a swatch FINALLY because Ive picked different yarn then called for in the pattern and I would like to make any and all alterations to the pattern BEFORE hand... Heres the colours I picked for myself
still green and pink but I think are still as pretty! :) So thats going to sit there calling for me for another couple of weeks... I did cast on and nearly knitted the bottom front edge of surprise baby sweater while I was under the dryer waiting for my hair to dry... Okay I dont drive anymore, havent for a couple years now, but even when I did I never did this. I just now and did then found/find it very funny that when cars are stuck in a bit of a line because of say theres a red light, a car broke down, whatever, why is it that theres always someone a couple cars back that decides they have to honk their horn? HELLO NO AMOUNT OF HONKING IS GOING TO MAKE THE LINE MOVE ANY!! Just cracks me up at the end of the day.... I just had to say that now Im off to go do dishes so I can sit down and knit more of surprise baby sweater! :) So Ive decided...IM DOING THE KNITTING OLYMPICS!
Isnt it pretty? I got that from Yarn Harlot off to the side.... Now Ive decided to do Kyoto a pattern from the archive at knitty.com off to the right side.... Today I have to go into town I think Im going to go early and go buy some yarn for the project, yes I realise I cant actually start it until the 16th of feb, but I would really like to have it ready and all at hand, and also I have to make sure that I can get the colours that I want, Im going to try and get as close to the green and pink in the picture becuase I do like that colour choice. But yes, thats what Im going to be doing. WOO HOO! Hopefully in 16 days I will be able to complete it! And if I dont, well hey Ive tried! And I will finish it eventually and get a new sweater that Ive been dying to make! Just needed to update that quickly, now Im off to go and get ready and go see the girl down the hair dressers, Ill remember her name later tonight. OMG I cant believe Ive forgotten it! Shes a really sweet girl as well. But shes using me as a tester to do a set for her NVQ I hope she passes today! Last time she ran out of time but my hair looked beautiful! What to do... what to do..Alright so Im not entirely sure what to do, in a bit of a pickle! Since joining new knitting groups on yahoo I have found blogs of people I keep forgetting to add all the cool ones in here but if you look Ive got 3 so far. Of course they are all knitting, I must add my moms non knitting one becuase I read hers as well! :) Its just her and I do it on msnspaces and everyone else uses blogger, I just cant get me head around the way they do theirs...
So anyways my pickle... One of the blog owners is doing a Knitting Challange, basically you have to challenge yourself to finish a project in the 16 days while the Olympics are running. Easier said then done because I cant think of anything to do that I know I could finish but that would actually challenge me. Socks I can do in about 2 weeks but they arent really challengings. (and sometimes I can do them quicker sometimes longer) I could do a sweater, but I usually get side tracked and they take to long. I guess I have until around lets say Feb 10th to decided what I want to do, purchase my yarn and do it if Im going to. Other wise Im not gonna do it.... Hmmm the possibilities and problems! HAHA
Right now about these Very Tall Socks Ive been working on now for about a month, only due to breaking up for christmas from my knitting and then casting on and doing the back of a baby sweater, they are finished all I have to do is graft the toe off the needles and I will have two completed socks! Oh how happy I am to have finished those! I just have black and pink yarn left over now that I really dont want nor know what to do with so it will go in with my yarn stash and I am sure I will figure out something to do with it all! :)
Now just time to finish off the baby sweater and figure out what my next project is actually going to be! :) Oh the choices..... January 18 Fathers For Justice....For those that dont know who they are, they are a group of people, fathers and others, fighting so that more fathers have better rights to their children. Since moving over here to England I have always thought that what they are fighting for is completely honourable! And Ive backed their reasons, maybe not their actions but their reasons behind them. Trying to make people more aware that really fathers have no rights. If they dont pay they go to court and possible jail, yet if mum doesnt let him see his children not much is done. I find that completely wrong I think both parents should ALWAYS be able to see the children unless it is proven 100% without a doubt that the one not seeing the child is unfit.
Myself coming from a broken home (mind you I had just turned 15 so I was old enough to make my own mind up!), my father did try to make me hate/not want to see my mom, but there was no way I was going to let him do that to me. My mom happens to be my best friend. I do still talk to my dad but no where near as much as my mom. I lived with my father after the divorce so I think its completely crap when they say children should go with mom as I know single fathers who are wonderful and raise their children perfectly and had their lady had the children probably wouldnt have raised them much differently.
Anyways the whole point of this, is today the news we woke up to was about how they were talking about kidnapping Toni Blair (Prime Minister) son. HELLO ARE YOU STUPID! And now just on the news this evening their group is being disbanned because of all the bad press and blah blah blah. Well Im sorry but when you have members that decide amoungst themself that this is the correct step to take to make people more aware of these issues, makes me come to the decision that this really isnt the sort of group that I should back. Because the whole point is that fathers have no rights to their kids and are unable to see them. Kidnapping someones child then takes them away from BOTH of their parents and puts them into a situation that by no means is a nice one, and could possibly do alot of mental damage. Obviously it didnt happend but still doesnt make it nice to hear about.
So thats my ramblings for today.... Other then the fact that I have 18 more rows to knit on sock and then get to shape and finish off the toe and I will be done with the Very Tall Socks! I CANT WAIT!! And hopefully I should have it for the most part finished tonight as Desperate Housewives starts on the telly so I will be knitting while watching that! WOO HOO! :) January 17 Perhaps...Perhaps I have jumped in to quickly.... while I love patterns that OTHER people have made for the ease of us non pattern writers to use I have wanted to create my own pattern, that seems simple enough in saying. But man try finding an easy explination on how to shape the upper body for the sleeves it just gets confusing! everything else is simple as its just percentages of 1 measurment and I can do that. So I suppose I will have to just find a shoulder/arm from a pattern I like and copy that but then isnt that cheating? So I really do need to find more and read about it becuase I know its out there to be able to read about its just trying to get my head around it... and Im normally confused as it goes so just imagine how much more I am now! the good thing about this, if you can consider it a good thing, is that I have so much other stuff to knit/I want to knit that by the time I get around to ever figuring it out it will probably be out of my system and I will be satisfied doing other peoples patterns. haha
Right now on to the sock that I am forever knitting on, last night I got down to the heel! WOO HOO I probably could have knitted the heel and gotten it ready for shaping and picking up today but I didnt feel like doing it last night so instead I shall do that today and hopefully be able to get alot of it done which would then leave me to the foot and that will hopefully just take a wee bit of time sitting down and actually doing it... Today is Tuesday I hope to finish it come the weekend... if I go into next week and Im still knitting it I shall have to scream, and scream very loudly I will!
I still am unable to find me a freaking pair of gloves, come on people seriously how hard is it to make decent gloves that wont A fall apart the first time you wear them or B are to thin to even think the would manage to keep you warm! So I have a feeling I after these socks are finished its going to be quick simple wrist warmers that go pretty far up my hand... Ive got tons of spare yarn so Im sure whatever I manage to do will look lovely.... but that still doesnt save my finger tips from getting cold..... but hey I will have them so it does remove the whole taking gloves on and off scenario.... still though I think Im to hard to please at times... HAHA :)
Now I am off to knit the heel of this sock..... LETS GO!!!!! January 16 Do you feel like it?Ive not much felt like picking my needles up today so I havent, Ive played around on the computer, seperated the clothes, did some laundry, scrubbed the bathroom, went to the store, I still have to do the dishes, make dinner, scrub the toilet and then Im not sure if I will knit this evening, actually thats a lie, I will! I will knit while Im watching tv tonight. Americas Next Top Model Season 5 starts tonight and Id like to see the girls that make it and the girls that are turned away. What I like about ANTM is they pick girls that got a funky look to them and I didnt find they did that with BNTM instead they picked the average girl next door look... So Im excited that that is starting back up tonight. And then I get Desperate Housewives starting up on Wednesday and we cant forget Charmed on Thursday nights! WOO HOO! :) I dont really care if I miss anything else on the tv that I want to watch but end up doing something else instead for...
So tonight for dinner Im making fresh raviolli in fresh pasta with fresh tomato sauce. I seen some lady doing it yesterday on tv and I went ooo I can use our pasta rolling machine and make some for us today! So that is exactly what Im going to be doing tonight,,, so much fun huh? :P Im going to fry up some mince beef, onions, garlic, basically the mix for meatballs and then adding some mushrooms in for good measure with a bit of parmesian cheese and wiz it all up until well blended then will add to my pasta and make me raviolli,,, I hope it comes out alright becuase if it doesnt I have nothing else to make for dinner! HAHAHAHAHAH but Im sure it will be just fine when its finished actually making me hungry thinking about it...
Ive been flicking thru websites looking at knitting patterns and I seen a really cute pair of socks I feel like doing for myself but they are going to have to wait for a while, also seen a nice hat, but the only problem is I always look like a freak in hats so Im not sure I will do it, and it fits your head so thats even more reason for NOPE... anyone fancy a hat just so I can knit it? AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
OKay Ive got the radio on and they are playing for up to 500£ and they give you a subject and you call in... This lady that just called in on Florida didnt answer a single question right! They last question was what City is Disney World in Florida in? She said Flordia BUZZZ (wrong answer) Orlando! and then the guy says you know Im actually going to give that to you because I feel sorry for you. Youve won yourself 25£.... I just laughed at her, foolish for calling in to try and answer when you dont know really all that much about florida! I mean yesterday when I was listneing it was on James Bond, no way would I have called because I dont know much about those movies, or so I thought... Sitting here I was actually able to answer more then I thought I would be able to, I was proud of myself! HAHAHA.... Im like that with quiz shows and things... dont think Id do very well and surprise myself that Im able to scream the answers out before they are.. hehe... :)
Alright Im sure the toilet is ready to be scrubbed and if not the bleach is trying to eat its way out so Im off to be domesticated, or pretended to be anyways... :) Then I need to run down the road for some stuff I missed at the store earlier, and see if theres any new movies in, and then get to come home and make a start on the dishes to make a start on dinner! :) WOO HOO..... January 15 One Hit Wonder......Sundays are always bad days for tv, so I normally try and find something or end up listening to the radio more then not while knitting, though there are times I turn everything off and just read... Well today is a knitting sunday trying to find something to watch...
Well while I was flipping around the channels I turned on VH1 and am listening to the top 50 one hit wonders, so far there hasnt been 1 that I didnt know and like.. So all I have to say is, I LOVE ONE HIT WONDERS!! haha.. The surprising thing is they always bring back some sort of memory.. Like Breakfast At Tiffanys from Deep Blue Something, reminds me of me and my sister signing to it in the kitchen when we were 14/15.... Uncle Krackers song Follow Me reminds me of when I was living in Canada and driving around with my friend Crista with that song playing on the radio... Just stupid little things like that,,, La Bamba from the 80's I was only 6 when that song came out yet I pretty much knew the words (or still make them up for what they sound like is probably the case to be honest) but still makes me want to get up and make a fool of myself! AHAHHA
Yes so to conclude, One Hit Wonders ROCK! hahaha :) January 14 Sock on...Been knitting loads on the sock, Ive finished all the decreasing on the leg and just have to continue knitting down to the heel right now.. I think I have another like 80 rows before I get there, but today I did knit a load on there and just taking a small break from it for the moment before I go sit down and knit some more while watching some telly... oh boy. HAHA
After I finish the sock, I am not sure if Im going to knit me some glove/wrist warmers or finish knitting the baby sweater. I cant find any gloves in town worth even looking at for myself so thats why im thinking of doing my own.. but most glove patterns I find our for mittens and I just dont fancy wearing a pair of mits, that is why I am thinking of doing some wrist warmers.. I suppose really we will see when Im finished what I feel like doing.. And anyways at the end of the day I do still have a baby sweater that needs doing so I will more then likely finish that up.
I talked to my sister the other day and ask her to do the impossible, hold her kids still for a couple minutes while she measures them for me.. Lets see if she does it or not... I wont hold my breath shes probably already forgotten Ive asked her to do it. hehe.... I love my sister really I do.. :)
Alright Im going to go and knit now.. Ive rambled on about nothing for long enough... :) January 08 Back is finished...OKay so I know that I started the other extra long sock and I got the cuff done and some pink done but then set it to the side.. I will be picking it back up and trying to finish it this week.... What Ive been working on this last week was a new sweater for Noah, (Marks nephew) his 1st birthday is coming up in March I realise thats a ways away but seeing how Ive been knitting latey figured I had better make a start on it soon so I did the back of it this week thats why Im going to try and finish the sock this coming week...
Im not going to show or say what it looks like other then to say its blue and looks really good so far when its completed I will THEN post a picture of what it looks like... as I didnt take any pictures while the back was on the needles I will take store and THEN show picture of it all but not until it is completely finished.... :)
After I finish this sock and the rest of this sweater Im not sure what Im going to knit... I have some projects I want to do, just dont know where to start or if I want to take a break and get some more reading done,, bought 3 new books since christmas plus I still have books laying around the house bought in the past that I have yet to read so I havent decided what I want to do yet..... I just know I want to get the sock and sweater finished by mid feb... haha I was going to say end of this month but I dunno if I will be getting it all done by then.... right now Im going to go work on the sock some more!! :) |
