December 31 Happy New Year!I hope that you all have a very wonderful and happy new year! and that if you go out tonight you stay safe and remember not to drink and drive!
We are going to be staying in again this year, and you know what I like that! Got myself a bottle of White Zinfandel.. its very nice you know... Marks got his beer (its really gross you know! haha)... and for dinner we are having little snack sized food... yeah I decided to grab a couple little snacks for the evening and we have decided instead to make a dinner out of them... and thats alright... chicken wings, mini sausages, mini pizzas, vol something or another, basically little cheese and ham and cheese and onion thingies, cornish pasties, and I think thats it,, theres probably some other little snacks that I forgot about... but that shall be our new years eve dinner... :) come 12 we will be watching the telly and seeing whats going on down in london.... Its so different because Im used to watching the apple drop in times square and err well umm see theres no apple dropping in london just big ben chiming and fire works.. maybe one year I will actually make Mr P Take me down there but then again I dont think I would do very well down there.. who knows!

CHEERS! December 26 The Day After The Day Before...Its Boxing day, why its called boxing day I still havent figured out and with all this useful equipment (IE computer and internet) you would think I would have found out already huh? Well I will do that after! ....
So yesterday we had a wonderful day!! The cookies that Natalie helped me make went down a treat with everyone and the pies well one seemed to have been enjoyed while the other will be enjoyed today! Along with the cookies that Marks gone and helped make that I must say taste wonderful! We had a really nice dinner sitting around the table with Marks family to much food for most to know what to do with, but hey isnt that what its made for?? to stuff yourselves silly get fat and then complain come the new year how your goal is to take weight off! Maybe this year I will stick to that one! HAHAHAHAH
Today we are off to see more of the family and I will again have the camera in tow.. dunno why but mark took a picture yesterday of me eating some cheese... when I seen it I had to laugh I look all ready to spit it out my mouth when in fact I didnt mind it.. that might be due to the fact that there was hardly any on the cracker! :) Never have been much for a cheese eater though... when I resize it Ill post it for all to see.... and post the one of Mark with his christmas cracker crown on.... suprisingly I didnt wear mine for all that long.. last year I had mine on for ages... oh well..
So for xmas I got a really nice set of curling tossle tong thingies.. a bag to hold my knitting.. a cardi thing, that is slightly to small *sniff* and I really liked the style and colour!!.. some shampoo conditioner and leave in hair product that came in a pretty bathroom bag.. and then some soap and shower smellies that really do smell devine! I could smell them before I even opened it all up! haha... and then the topper from Mark is a beatiful new monitor! I CAN FINALLY SEE REAL COLOURS! hahah Mark got one I think it was just this summer? I cant remember how long hes had it now! but he got it and I loved it would do soemthing in here then send it in to him and be amazed that it looked completely different.. so now I get to see what hes actually seeing! :) its great! haha...
Now that Ive rambled on and told ya what I got Im going to get back off of here and go read a couple pages before we leave today. :) Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! :) December 20 so it didnt work out....I was really excited about doing that blasted cranberry banana bread... followed how they said to do it, didnt miss a step, set the oven to temp let it heat up while i prepared it all then poured it into my pan and into the oven it went.. oh it looked wonderful and smelled good too but HA three hours later and tired of tryng to get it to cook the middle well actually all but the outside REFUSED to cook... so when you cut it open it was EXTREMELY gooey.. and no our oven aint broke because we did our dinner in it after even had the stupid bread in there TRYING to get it to cook while doing hte chips for dinner... GRRR so its now sitting in the bottom of our garbage bin.. and yep thats where its staying and i wont bother doing one of those again.. so muchfor my bright idea of tyring to do something nice and different, the bugger didnt even cook!!
so tomorrow i will buy some peanut butter and figure out how many eggs I will need for all the cookies and get any bits that I dont have sitting in the cupboard right now for the cookies and I will do some on thursday, some friday and have mark do his o saturday.... that way have loads of cookies to nibble on. errr i mean take with us on sunday. hahah i still have a couple naners so I MIGHT make a loaf of banana bread.. i dont know... depends if I can deal with it if it goes wrong again. hahahahh but oh it would be a nice little treat.. :) get some nuts and throw in it as well... mmm I think Im talking myself into doing just that! hahaha
so yesterday I got my moms xmas card and it was really lovely.. :) but i was slightly confused as to why I got that this year before my bday card, so today in the mail I got my bday card.. ugh she made me cry!! Its a really sweet card,,,, just made me laugh that it was date stamped 7 minutes before the xmas card and yet I got it a day later... oh well... i still got it! :) and they were both beautiful!
Listening to more xmas music again today.. i think what I should do is just leave it running 24-7 until monday. haha... oh and my ringtone on my mobile phone is set to "grandma got run over by a reindeer" I know not a traditional xmas song but it really does make me laugh, and the ones ive asked over here they have never heard it,,, so im just waiting for the time im down in town and it starts to play how many looks I end up getting.. and you knwo what, I think I will leave it ring while it plays out the song. AHAHHAHAHAHAHAH
I did a little test bit last night of an argyle or however you spell it pattern with some spare yarn, it rocks! mind you I did get slightly confused during the pattern, but it still kicks butt...think I may need to do more thne just my little test bit that I amde into a dorky wrist band that I will probably neverwear but am thinking of finding a big ole watch face to attach to it.... seen it in a mag (mind you the pattern was dif) and I thought it looked really cool...so I think I might do somehting similar... December 19 ITS FINISHED!The ONE sock is finished... just need to make sure that it fits proplerly before starting the next one... as its not me that will be wearing it I need ot make sure, if it doesnt fit, I dunno what to do other then say tuff and your not getting socks now??? nd I dont wnat to do that.. I took stitches away that should have been enough so thats why I dare not do the other one.. it only took a week to do anyways and really thats pretty short time and should be able to do the other one in the same amount of time. :)
I thought the christmas cactus that I bought the other day was going to drop all its flowers as we all know it doesnt like being moved and I walked home from the store with it, not to mention took it in for mark to see... but you know what its doing REALLY well and the blooms that were on it are blooming and then theres a couple new bits there as well! WOO HOO I thought it was an ALL pink on, but it seems to be a pink or a pink and white blooms coming from it. :)
Got all the gnome wrapped, ws pretty proud of myself wrapping such weird shapped items and yet doing a great job at it! :) our tree looks pretty with the little packets under it all wrapped in their glory waiting to be torn open.
This weekend I got a birthday/xmas pressie from some friends, and I LOVE IT!! its a pair of really FLUFFY and soft TIGGER slippers, and also a big green Tigger mug!! THEY ROCK as well! :) my feet stay toastie and I get to drink my coffee in style! haha cant wait to see what else I get.. :) hopefuly some books and yarn stuff.. .but we will see.. I wont complain with whatever I get.. I like pressies! haha
Im waiting for my cranberry banana bread to finish baking stupid things been in there for over 2 hours but its still runny in the middle... ugh! but I cant wait for it to finish and take it with us on Sunday and eat some of it! :) Yes I will behave myself and wait until its time that I can cut into it and eat some. :) during the week will be doing three loads of chocolate chip cookies, one will be plain, one will be peanut butter, and one will be Special A La Mark! hahahaha... I have no clue what he will put into his but last year he did his own thing and I kept saying they would be horrible, but they turned out really lovely! Oh yeah and I have to make some sweet taters to do my pie with! :) Probably do those tomorrow that way they can sit and stew in their juices for a couple days before being mashed for the pie! and I have to find me some good pie shells... looks like a trip to sainsburrys for me, tescos shells are to small and thin.... and I wont do my own, gotta cheat from time to time ya know! :)
Alright Ive rambled on long enough now Im going to go and look and try out a couple knitting patters from my new book with some spare yarn I have and see what I like enough to do something with... thinking a couple lots of pillows for the couches, or maybe just some squares to make a throw... I havent decided yet.. :)
But if I dont get back before xmas day, I hope all who bother to read this have a very safe but very Merry Christmas, (or a happy holiday that you do celebrate this time of year) and a wonderful and Happy New Year!! :) December 16 The foot is in sight...Err I mean the end. BAHAHA... oh that was a pathetic attempt at a joke! :)
Ive managed to knit the entire length of a very long sock and not once attempt to throw it out the window, that in itself is a VERY good sign! haha I am now about to work the heel, well I did 2 rows to be exact, now very much I realise, but I was working on the leg and now I need a break from knitting. :) So I have to knit 2.5 inches for the heel then do the short row heel turn or whatever its called on to the foot do the instep and toe (when I get to each) and graft the toe bit and its finished, one sock will be done, I wonder if I will finish that by Sunday? hmm if I do cool, if not oh well... Doesnt look like I will have both socks finished before christmas, and that in itself is slightly a shame but completely understandable becuase I can only do so much before going slightly insane. :)
I got my Knitting OVER The Edge book today, was happy to get that, some cool edgings and things in there that I am thinking I will deffo have to give go, and some neat ways to spruce up a slightly mundane project. :) Theres a long knitted coat thingy I wouldnt mind pricing out and doing, its funky but really cool looking and I think would look perfect on me! I just have a slight feeling it will cost a pretty penny to make because of the yarn they are asking for, but hey I will look to see because it really is such a pretty coat. :) and theres always saving a few spare bits of change here and there for it as well. :)
I got myself a christmas cactus, its pretty, bought it with blooms on it, though I have a feeling they will all die off of it and I will then be left with a rather plain cactus, and that in itself will be alright until its ready to bloom once more (come next year) I do love the look of them, I find them pretty plants...
Think this weekend I might bake some cookies, I havent decided yet, I may do something with the cranberries I got yesterday, had a beautiful cranberry muffin with white chocolate icing on top today I swear that was to die for oh so nice! so Im thinking of maybe doing something similar to that myself with my cranberries as I have so many why did I have to see fresh cranberries anyways and then go and buy them? geesh! oh well if all else fails Ill juice the little buggers and make myself fresh cranberry juice, though I will hve to buy some oranges or something to go with it becuase I think on their own will just be to bitter...
Right now Im rambling so Im going to go watch a movie or something... December 13 Very Tall SocksI am right now making some knee high, well thighishhigh socks for Natalie, and they are going pretty well when I do sit down and knit on them. :) Im already to the decreasing bits, which just means Im getting near the half way point on the leg bit of the sock... :) heres a close up picture of the sock, ignore the row counter I have pinned in there! haha
I pinned the row counter so that I didnt have to worry about loosing it and as Im using dpns I can exactly leave it on one of the neeldes becuase it will just fall off I thought about putting it on something to hold on my hand but then I thought nope just pin it to the sock! HAHAH heres what its looking like so far as just a sock and no close ups, again ignore the pinned in row counter! I think its looking pretty good so far! :) and I think I might have to make me some after... but then again I do have loads more I want to knit that doesnt involve socks, and I do already have two pair for myself... ANYWAYS .... On a completely different note, on Friday (dec 9) I went and watched The Chronicles of Narnia, its based on a very popular kids book over here, Ive never read it, but I REALLY enjoyed the film, and those that I went with who did read the book also really enjoyed the movie, so I would say its a must see for kids and adults alike. Also I did get to read one of my books over the weekend and decided to ready Louise Bagshawes Mondays Child, I now want to read Tuesdays Child, they say shes the british answer to Jackie Collins, but Im sure I read a Jackie Collins book before and shes nothing like her so why they say that Im not completely sure... Its a love story, but its not a hot love scenes love story. Maybe the next one will be different, or her other ones were different I dont know..b ut I will soon be reading tuesdays child soon as I finish the sock.... Ill read my next book then knit the next sock and ill be finished with my socks and would have read two books. haha :) Okay now Im off of here to go knit some more.. December 08 ITS DONE!!thats right, you read it right folks, the sweater is done! :) Im so proud of it!!!
What do you think?? if you look in previous posts Ive showed close up detail, ignore the hair and the teal shirt I got on just check out the sweater! :) I finished it today with a bit of annoyance, had to redo the cast off 3 times because the first two were to tight.. but this is my newest sweater added to my collection supprisingly it is VERY warm. it was done in Sirdar Spree and its white. Im not sure if I will try to dye it or leave it white I suppose that will come if I stain it! HAAHAHAH And no mom, Im sorry you cant hvae this sweater, it took to long to finish I want to wear it a couple of times before thinking ofeven giving it away. HHAHAHAHAH LOVE YOU! December 04 The end is in sight...Just quickly....
The end is in site! :) Im nearly finished with my sweater, Ive sewed up half of it after joining and doing one complete ribbed row on the collar. :) So tomorrow will be sewing up the other half, and then doing a couple more ribbed rows if Im able to! :) Planning to finish it no later then the weekend.. hopefully I can manage this!
Soon as all is finished I shall model it and have my darling bf take a picture of me wearing my brand new sweater! |
