April 28 More photos and stories of the sock....Hi everyone I am back...
and here i am again
Its just a bit of a closwer more clear picture of myself, Im a camera hog really... cant get me away from in front of it! So this is how much I grew last night and a couple rows from this morning as well. Ill tell you a story quickly... my knitter nearly wet herself from laughing so hard last night when I showed myself to Mark he actually got excited, from what I heard from other knitted things he never really gets overly excited about them. But to me he said, "I can see when this is done and finished and your wearing it people saying "F**k me you didnt really knit that did you?" Becuase it looks already like it something store bought" Of course that made me stand a bit taller... To Mom of knitter I will be sure to steal the computer and update on myself and other stories if there are any to tell. :) Oh yes wait there is another one to tell, I have more yarn company sitting in a bag waiting to be casted on for a tank top, that is really pretty, but when it showed itself to Mark his comment was "you sure like pink dont you?" well yes my knitter does enjoy pink she doesnt want to dress in bland clothes, but once it was said I noticed alot of pinks in her wardrobe, of course I love the pink in me and wouldnt have any other colour.... Just quickly, one more photo of myself... like I said, Im a ham!

Its knitted all in garter stitch, which is knitting every row mom. :) And it was knitting on 6.5mm needles and it was a 4ply yarn which should normally be knitted on about 3.25mm needles. Im really happy with how it turned out and heres what it looks like on me... arent I pretty? HAHA
Im never really any good when I model for pictures.... but hey I try!

Im a small sock right now with not much to see.. but this is how much Ive grown this morning. I still have some more to grow tonight and I really like how Im knitting.... My knitter is using left over yarn from her shrug bolero thingy mabobber and some pink that shes had laying around as well. She laughed at me when I first started growing because I reminded her of a little girls sock that she might have worn going to grade school. And shes thinking as I stand at the moment I would look really cool as a pair of gloves but hey shes gotta stop that becuase Im going to be a big girl sock! No gloves thank you! Ill have my knitter post some more pictures tomorrow after Ive grown up some more. And Ill also remind her to post pictures of that silly thing she kept talking about that shes knitted..... I finished it...I finished my sweater, do you think I got Mark to take pictures of it last night? No of course not. Why you ask, simple answer I was half asleep the whole night and by the time I woke myself up fully (and it didnt last long!) the footie was on and I wasnt going to ask him to take pictures while watching. Okay so that is only part truth, the whole truth is I looked like crap from being half asleep all day.... Hopefully today i wake all the way up, doesnt that sound grand?
So I finished my sweater on Tuesday actually and was really hoping to take the pictures of it yesterday but I didnt so Im posting the done message without pictures, well later tonight I WILL ask Mark to take pictures of me in my sweater. I really like it! Think it came along perfectly! :)
Ive started some socks from Nancy Bush Folk Socks... got two rows down so theres not really much to say about those but hopefully ill knit more rows tonight to be able to take a picture and show SOMETHING of that.
Today i am making a trip into town (i make it sound so grand! haha) and i will be picking up the newest issue of Simply Knitting and some yarn and needles as I dont think I have the size needed, to make the take from Simply Vouge Knitting, its a simple tank but oh so pretty. Theres another one in Vouge Knitting that I want to knit as well but I have to adjust that pattern still as I mentioned before. :)
Right I need to go and sort myself out so that I can go get yarn to play with! :) YIPPIE! April 22 Its coming together...Its coming together very nicely in fact! :) I went and bought myself a 6.5mm circular needle today so that I can finish up my shrug cardi thingy. Yesterday after my post I was sitting there and decided to make the sleeves 3/4 length which in turn dropped teh back down some becuase it didnt take up so much material, i really liked the way it looked but decided i wanted a bit more to pull in the front so thats where the circular needle is coming in becuase its picked up and alreayd knit a couple of rows around for the collar... :) Give me a few days and Ill be sporting me new creation! WOO HOO!!
I also bought two new books today, I love Tescos for their 3.73£ books! I got Jodi Picould Vanishing Acts, they had another one of hers but it was a hard back and 8.73 Im not paying that, Ill wait for it to come in on paper back for 3.73 and buy it then! haha.. I also bought Conversations With The Fat Girl becuase it sounded good/funny.
Temp has turned out absolutely beautiful today! And its sunny to boot! So Im really itching to make the tank out of Vouge soon! But I do want to finish this thing Im knitting and I think Ill knit the tank next, well theres actually two that I want to knit, but one I need to look at and modify big style because I have to add about 10 inches to it.... shame I aint tiny... HA!... but the other one which I think comes from their simple mag is knit with chunky and when I was picking up my needles today I seen two colours I wouldnt mind using and iwll have ot have a good think about in the mag its yellow with a pink tie, but I might make mine pink with the yellow tie because the pink I seen and thought of using is really lovely looking and would look killer with a pair of jeans or anything.. I know the yellow would as well, but I do so love pink... cant you tell? HAHHAHA
I also forgot to say yesterday I got two balls of funky fur yarn from my friends Adam and Stevie, THANK YOU! I havent decided what to do with it yet, but I will figure something fun to do with it! :)
Alright now I have to run..... see yall laters! April 21 partly finishedalright so Ive knitted what I thought was going to just be a shrug thingy, and it goes from arm to arm. I casted it off my needles this morning I am going to sew the arm bits up and see how it fits me, then im going to pick up some stitches along the back and knit down then Im going to pick up stitches from the shoulders and knit some fronts to it I think... i havent completely decided yet how Im going to do it but I do know it doesnt hang enough in the back so my shrug is going to turn into a cardigan.
Today I picked up my new Vouge Knitting magazine and there are a couple of things out of it I would like to knit. One of them happens to be a tank top that ROCKS my socks thing is its not big enough to fit me so I am going to have to have a good look over the pattern and see what I would like to do to extend the pattern to fit me. Its so pretty I need to have it! HAHAHAHA Theres other things in there that I know wouldnt look good on me, but would look beautiful on other people.....
Hopefully I will eventually have some pictures of something to show you to prove that I have knitted and havent just sat around here looking pretty but Im to lazy at the moment to pull the camera out and take pictures... sad huh? :) April 11 Still not much knitting...but before you think Ive been absolutely useless I havent! :) I knitted a test bit trying to figure out which needle size I liked best and decided this 6.5mm with the 4ply yarn looked the best so I am now reknitting my cardi. Yesterday i spent ripping it apart and rewinding it on the ball... :)
Hopefully today I will have knitted a couple rows. I casted on yesterdy and knit one row... not very good huh? But its going to be on 6.5mm needles so hopefully it goes quicker then I had originally expected. :)
I also forgot to mention on Sunday night I cut Marks hair... He looks so good. :)
and now I am off to go change the laundry, make a cup of coffee and come in to knit a couple more rows. :) April 10 Havent done much knitting...I did buy another ball of wool on Friday for my shrug that I am making but I havent touched it, why you ask, well Im thinking of ripping it AGAIN! The whole thing was I wanted something lacey, and Its boring at the moment, some in all my glory am trying to knit on different size needles to find the one look I like best, when I achieve that look I will knit it all up properly then, but not before! :)
I have also been working on my knitting needle case, so far I have only sewn (by hand) the front and back pieces together. I have the material that is going to hold the needles into place, i just have to cut and sew (by hand) that together. Probably be done in another week or so... Hey sewing by hand is slow. Not to mention Im not a very straight sewer but tape as a guid line comes in handy! HAHAHA I enjoy sewing because when I finish my sweaters I sew them all up by hand and I like that, different being I dont have to sew seams into them I just have to stitch them together with their preknitted seams. :)
So anyways thats what I been up to. As well as, soon as my mom gives me her colour scheme I will be helping make her a layout for her birdsite that shes going to be making. This is going to be fun... :) I love playing in psp and Im helping my mom out... can it get much better? Yeah it could but I am not knitting little birdie warmers.... as funny and cute as it would be... but who knows, come winter next year (well then again it can snow any time up there given half a chance) they might need warmers afterall... :)
And for those knitters that may glance past here, check out knitty the new issue is up and has some really nice patterns on there.. couple of which I will get around to doing. :) April 06 Camera working in all its glory...okay before we get into the knitting let me just show you that in all my gardening wisdom I bought this:
A basil plant, now last year we kept basil, thyme, parsely, corriander, and chives, then I put them away for the winter and within a week they died.... so this year I bought this plant so far,,, I give it another two days to die! well unless I plant it today when I get back from getting my hair cut then it might have a chance... My poor bush that I had for 2 years is dead.. I hope its not TOOOO dead becuse Im trying to bring it back, but I dont know if I can.. I forgot to go out and water it over winter.. i know.. horrible plant taker carer I am...... OKay on to knitting!! :) As you can see I got charged batteries and memory cards back in the camera! :D There is the colour of yarn I am using.. grey....
and heres what it looks like so far.. boring yep... but its what I have at the moment.. and hey whats that? Oh that sneaky little peanut butter!! kitkat seems to find it way into my bags all the time when I go to the store then threatens to beat me into a peanut butter mess if I dont eat it.. oh he is lovely!! though I cant eat it while I knit or Ill get chocolate and peanut butter everywhere... So anyways that is all i have so far,,, just a bit of a rectangle for the back.... and dont ya know the pattern keeps changing in my head.. have another about 5 inches to knit before I can confirm to myself what I will be doing with the front and edges... I think Ill knit the sleeves in the meantime, well after I finish the back.. :) OKay off to wash my hair so I can go down and have it washed again and cut (hey for those that know me know my hair is a grease trap and theres no way I will leave this house without washing it! HAHA) Oh yeah and later today I will be working on some things for the crazy bird, I mean my mom in making her some pages for her to do a website with.... She sucked up to me telling me how beautiful and lovely I was, I thought that was always supposed to be the trick we kids used on our parents not the other way around? :) April 03 April showers...bring May flowers... lets hope so hey? :) We have gotten lots of rain the last couple of days, but of course we are having a drought down the south of England but up North they have plenty of water. We are in a hosepipe ban, but the pipes loose loads of water every day. The water bills have gone up 5.5% but the water companies arent fixing their leaky pipes.... Oh yeah and they wont send water from up north to down here, something laughable about contamination.. come on people its all rain water sitting in big water reserves what contamination are you going to get? Oh yeah thats right North and South of England are divided by an imaginary line which is laughable as well.. but then I suppose its like the north and south of the states, two completely different people.... Accents and all... I have to have Mark translate sometimes when some people are on the telly talking if they are from up North, or really up in Scotland, Irish I sometimes understand but after a wee drink or 5 i cant understand what they are saying though I have to wonder if anyone understands what they are saying after that???? Accents to thick.. anyways this was about the rain water and not accents.. so I suppose they cant ship the rain water down afraid it might contaminate the water down here, personally I think the water down here wouldnt understand what the water from up there is saying.. HAHA Im so funny..... NOT!
Right I realised I promised pictures, guess what, yup thats right, no pictures! First off Mark stole the memory card so I werent sure where to find it... i did find it, well he told me it was in the bedroom the whole time.. OOPS! So then this morning I thought Ill take a picture of the yarn and how little Ive knitted, EXCELLENT right? wrong! Put the memory card in and turn it on, NOTHING the flipping batteries are stone cold dead.. ARG!!! Do ya think we have another charged pair in the house? NOPE! SOOOO our batteries are in the charger charging, the memory card is back in the camera, the knitting is back on the couch and Im on the computer typing... so much for my plans of taking a picture huh? :)
So since joinging that Crafster.com forum I have spent hours upon hours just leafing around the posts on it and by doing that it has made my want of a sewing machine ever greater. I swear i will have one someday! Anyways Ive decided until that point I can hand sew... I found a post about taking old clothes and making them "new" again so out came my sissors and pins and I hacked off the bottom edge of a shirt I have, easy peasy! mind you I wanted to throw up afterwards because I liked the shirt! it just didnt really fit the bottom half of me anymore.... so anyways thats done and I sewed a new hem to it (slightly wonky but hey i was doing it all by hand and Im rather amused/impressed at my first attempt or properly hand sewing! yes I sew my sweaters after knitting but thats different...) so anyways now I just have to pin and cut the collar off and resew that hem and its finished and will be my new shrug until I finish knitting the one Im working on. Im thinking though of using some of the left over sewing thread i have for this recon of the shirt and embrodering something on the front pocket and perhaps around the arm sleeves.... I will get to that when I finish the collar and see how willing I will be then. :)
Now my book is done I must go and knit! have a good week everyone... mine will consist of knitting, sewing, cleaning, laundry... My mom called me suzi homemaker... I think slowly Im getting there... becoming more and more domesticated as the days go on, because I enjoy cleaning (to a point) and even doing the laundry, I really like cooking but still plead ignorant at times when I want to get out of it, like sunday nights... :) Mark knows i can do it but I pretend I cant and he does it because he enjoys cooking so I let him. :) |
