May 30 NOT a happy camper...Yesterday while knitting on my sweater I found TWO mistakes, okay fine I can fix those two mistakes.. right? You would think so, Iknow howthe pattern goes, Im well equiped for it... but no I messed it up so I was already to ticked off at the stupid sweater to put it to the side like a smart person and come back later to fix it, instead I took it off the needles and ripped it all back to nothingness.... i now am mad that I did that.. I could have fixed it! Oh well... 2 mistakes turned to three turned to plain annoyance... so at some stage today, maybe tomorrow, I will be restarting this stupid sweater.... I have a feeling I will be calling it worse things then that.. sad bit is, I really want the sweater so I will be knitting it regardless how much I end up hating it! HAHAHAHA :)
Oh yeah.. and I have been looking at the day... Today, 6 years ago I graduated highschool.. bloody h*ll I feel really old now! Okay not REALLY old.. but old enough to know that I miss school.... funny that, I always loved school but that last year I couldnt wait to get out of it, I was ready for a break.. now I just want to go back.. I think there is something comforting about school.. maybe its the fact of all the books and knowledge... yeah thats it.. I cant say its messing around with friends. I liked that, but I loved going to class and learning.. I should have done better in school then I did, but I hated the homework... I still graduated in the top 30%... thats good.... well for me I was proud of it....
Alright Im going to go make a glass of chocolate milk and veg out in front of the telly for a couple of hours.. hahah May 28 What have you been up to?So Mark is in the bedroom watching the Indy 500 I was in there watching it with him, but got bored after 100 or so laps and had to come out here to the computer and amuse myself in some form or another.. :)
I havent really done to much knitting so I have no pictures to show.. I tried to do some today but only managed to get 3 rows finished... whats wrong with me you ask.. Im not entirely sure just the whole knit me knit me hasnt been screaming.. well it has but Ive lovingly ignored the calls...
But this week I managed to go and buy myself 4 more packs of reese cups.. YUM! Ive only ate 2 packs so far.. Im behaving myself! Ive went into town a couple of times, bought the rest of my yarn to make the sweater with, picked up my knitting magazines, and posted off for things for Mark of which include a couple albums that I will be enjoying as well once they get here. :)
This weekend I ended up going clothes shopping.. I wanted some more girly clothes for the summer... So I ended up with 2 skirts, 1 pair of shorts and 4 tops... one skirt is a tan linnen mix that has a pink top to go with it, the second is a greeny yellow skirt with blue flowers, slight 1950's style and it had a tan top and then a pair of tan linnen shorts with a brown boho/gypsy style shirt to go with that, and a plain black tank top... I tried for a pair of sandle, but the only pair I liked when I tried on and walked in them I thought they were going to fling off and or I would end up on my face, because the bit to wrap around my ankle was elasticted.. note to self, dont bother trying any more of those sort on! HAHA
Right now Im going to veg on the couch and listen to my America Greatest hit album.. :) May 26 So far...Okay I started the sweater the other day, but I got a call from my mom set it down, got confused when I picked it back up so I ripped it out and started over.. Difference this time round was that I actually put place markers along... okay no pretty stitch markers, just some yarn tied around the needles! haha...
Anyways Ive knitted the lace edge and 3 repeats of the body so far for the back, heres what it looks like. :)
Thats a close upof the detail, I know the lace doesnt look like much at the moment thats because it needs finishing washing and blocking still.. Anyways here is another picture of it..
Your able to see the lace a bit better... This one was taken without the flash... its a crappy day here today rainy, even though it looks light out, its not really... The true colourof the yarn is sort of the shady areas of the second picture... I promise to take better pictures when the sun comes out next... was going to take some yesterday but there wasnt much to show.. by the time there was, the sun had pretty much set.... Anyways off to go knit a couple more repeats. :)
May 23 Its starting...I have started to knit up the cabled sweater out of Summer Interweave Knits 2005, I am doing it in 100% cotton by Sirdar in colour Sage, Very pretty!!! I was looking at other sorts of yarn in greens but that was the only green that kept calling my name and swearing to haunt me while I slept if I didnt buy any... So I bought 10 balls and going back in a couple of days to buy the remaining 6 balls.. I have knitted up a test swatch, just havent taken a picture of it yet... Lights been crap lately... Lots of rain.. sun peeking in and out from the clouds, and well I have been lazy as well!" hahaha... I do have to adjust the pattern slightly with this yarn, but I have decided instead of removing cables I could remove part of the space between them on the sides and that will take it nicely down to the size I need to! :)
As far as the Da Vinci Code went, I werent horribly upset by the film, ONLY because I went in expecting it to suck after hearing everyone say that on the tv when talking about the film... so I was pleasently surprised by the movie.. However I was upset that I had to pay 7£ to go see the blasted film, would have rather waited until it came to dvd and pay 2.25£ to rent it and watch it in the privacy of my own home while sitting in my pjs under a blanket with a glass of wine and some knitting in my lap...or rather in my pjs glass of sprite and knitting... haha... but oh well it was a nice day out... I mean after all I did get to see Bonny who moved up north a couple of weeks ago....
Right going to knit a couple more rows before Mark gets home for the evening. :) May 20 Mistakes can be fixed...Just to remind you of what the mistake looked like...
Now heres what it should have looked like to begin with Yes the colour is better in this picture, butlook at the placement of the holes, and they wayits shaped...It really does help when you read things properly! :) Ive also discovered that this yarn Ive chosen to test seems to have a smaller gauge then the yarn that the pattern calls for so I think I will be getting away with out having to adapt the pattern! WOO HOO.. I will go down to town on Monday and buy the yarn, I will also start with the sleeves finish on and then see if I was right since Ive only done me test over two pattern repeats I may find when doing the actually thing it works out nearly the same, I just dont fancy doing a whole front or back to find out that.. so Ill do a sleeve instead! HAHA May 19 Mistakes happenOkay I know that I said today I will post a review for what I thought about The DaVinci Code, thing is, we didnt go today. Instead got a call last night from my friend Bonnie who will be in town on Sunday and asked if I wanted to change days and see it instead then with them, so I said sure since she already talked to the other friend I was going to go see it with.. So instead I will let you know Sunday night or Monday what I think of the movie. Hopefully Im not let down by it.... Im scared that I might be, then again if I go in thinking this movie will probably suck big monkey balls and it doesnt then I will be happy that I paid nearly £7 just to walk in the door.. I really do hate the prices these days to go see a film.. what happened to having cheap movie theaters???? Actually they used to have one in Luton but it closed down... DANG!
So right now I thought I knitted up part of the pattern last night, heres a picture, please keep in mind the words "I thought I knitted up part of the pattern" they are VERY important... See this isnt the way its supposed to look, I knew that after the first set of 4 row repeats, I knew it after the second the third and even the fourth, do you think I paid attention to myself whenI knew that I was wrong? NOPE! Why you are asking, because I have never followed a chart before so I was merely reading the way I thought it was supposed to be read, WRONG! I am laughing now because I didnt actually cast on for the sweater to find out that I was an idiot. So after doing this lace bit I started on the body, the body of which I will be trying to figure out whatI can take out and still make it work. The body which I am hoping beyond hope is able to be modified to fit me better! But anyways as I was working the body cable chart my stitches werent matching up the way I knew they should for the cables to look right. So I think to myself, WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?
Well heres a tip:
Knitted charts are meant to be read Right to Left on the Rightside and Left to Right on the Wrong side!
I kept reading from Right to Left on every row and couldnt figure out what I was doing wrong! OOPS! So this morning I ripped it all apart (after the pictures) and have knitted it up properly and it looks really pretty!! And Ive just reached the body bit so I am going to do some rows on that and then I will take pictures of the way the pattern is MEANT to look and not the way I made it look up there! :)
And because I have no other knitting news thats why I am posting this so yall can get a good laugh at me, hey I found my mistake funny... And I learned the proper way to read a chart! Even though I should have known that because I remember reading it somewhere just didnt come to mind last night while I was knitting! May 18 Finished TankThis is the tank top that I was working on, I finshed it Sunday night, sewed it and put it on Monday, realised that the sleeve edges looked bad so I took it off and put it in a heap on the couch and havent touched it until today.. Today I got it out unstitched the shoulders and then with a crochet hook slip stitched some stitches round the arms and now it hold and looks lovely! I redid the shoulders put it on and love my new knitted tank top and will wear it happily out the door! :D
I just had Mark take some pictures heres one:
I really am happy with how this has finished.. :)
I havent done really any knitting since finishing this, I did however do a couple of rows on the heel flap of the sock but thats been about it, I really should do more I just dont feel like doing it now that Ive done the body of the sock.. I did see someone do something really cute with one and that was make them leg like warmers instead of socks, perhaps I will do that with mine and make the other one.. havent decided yet...
I also ended up reading Jodi Picoult Vanishing Acts, Good Book! Couldnt put it down once I had started then again I really do like her books all of the ones I have read!
Im looking at doing another pattern, but the two sizes they have nearest to me I am bang smack in the middle, the lower one is to tight, and the upper one is to big, but I REALLY like the sweater so I think I am going to take some crap stuff I have laying about and do up part of the pattern and see what I couldnt take off of it to make it fit me and not want to fall off or make me look like I am wearing a potato sack.. as we all know I hate potatoe sacks....
Yesterday I was out for about 3 hours picking up some memory for my phone, listening to 9 songs over and over and over again while your our is ANNOYING! so now I have over 100 to listen to and thats better because I have less chance of hearing one repeated.. I also picked Mark and I up a new keyboard... we like them! :) I then went from the computer store to the DIY store to their plant section and picked up some more fresh herbs to plant outside in the next couple of days in my little planters I have so I can pretend I am not afraid of bugs and I am a gardner.. We wont tell you that our bush we bought two years ago is as brown and dead as can be because I forgot to water it over the winter.. no we will ignore that part. haha.. I really am a gardner, just ask my mom she will tell you... well tell you how I will run a mile if theres a bug in the dirt or pot I am using...
Okie dokie folks thats all for this update... I am going to see The Da Vinici Code tomorrow Ill let you know if I thought the film was any good.. loved reading the book.... So we will see most films are let downs on the book... hopefully its going to be good.. Tom Hanks is in it after all and I do like him......See you tomorrow with a review... May 12 Slow is the way to go....I have shaped the underarm to the front of the tank, Ive done all my decreasing to shape it as well, now Ive got something like 2 inches to knit before shaping the front chest/neck area. Its coming along, but just ALOT slower then I had planed on it.. I really wanted to have it finished and sewn up by today and wearing it.. thats just not happened for some reason... okay its not happened becuase Ive been slightly neglecting it... when all is said and finished I will post pictures of it. :)
Also today a little bird came over and picked up two sticks and a peice of string and said "teach me to knit please, I would like to make stuff"... So me being the sweet person I am bought some sweets to eat and taught the little bird how to purl and knit... did show how to cast on but have a feeling the little birds forgotten that step.. and thats okay.... I did give some how to guides as well, hopefully it doesnt get shreeded up and turned into a nest....
Alright off to try and knit the two inches to the front so I can shape the chest/neck portion of the tank.. I really would like to put it on and wear it. :) May 08 I know..."I know it's not perfect, but it's life. Life is messy sometimes." -Greys Anatomy
Okay yep that has to be my fav quote for the moment, I know by tomorrow that will change... but there you go.. I was looking up stuff today on Greys Anatomy and found that and decided it was a keeper....
Okay on to other important things..
knitting...
Still havent touched the sock.. its REALLY mad at me... but i swear once I finish the tank top I will be a good girl and finish the first sock completely I dont really know why I didnt finish it first. It was going so well and really quickly. Oh well!
The knitted tank top sweater thing is coming along nicely and very happy with the progress of it! I have finished 7 of the 14 4 row repeats until I get to the chest area. So moving along nicely on it. Havent really touched it today Im not sure why just ended up doing alot of other things which has been pretty much nothing but stairing blankly at a computer screen wondering why I bothered getting out of bed because its a crap weather day made for staying hidden under the covers! :)
So there is my knitting update, look away now if you dont fancy reading a load of moaning..... (I did warn you so here goes if you are still reading!)
I said last post I would tell the drama of the phone guy... Well on Bank Holiday Monday they came and fixed our phone, now mind you it had been down for at least 10 days before we realized it was down, thats how much we use our phone but I actually went to use it and found I couldnt! So anyways they came out Monday morning said they would be here between 8 and 12 and at 9am the phone rings, the guy had it already sorted! GREAT! Well that didnt last long! 3 freaking day! Yep thats right 1, 2, 3 days! So when I found out it wasnt working (this time it was due to my mom trying to call we found it not working) Mark called them up to get it sorted. The said anywhere between 12 and 6 the next day (friday) they would be out to fix it. While on the phone Mark goes well thats 6 hours thats a pretty big span to just be waiting around aint it? Well be there or we will charge you 10£ for the call out. Yeah Ill sit around and wait for them, who cares, I have nothing better to do! I said it loud and sarcastically enough for them to hear. haha... Well at 2 they came and sorted it out. But still they shouldnt have to come out twice in a week! We should have our phone working, what would have happened if something serious happened and we didnt have mobile phone? Yeah thats the other thing, we had to use our mobiles to call them, and Mark couldnt use his minutes on his even though its supposed to be a free phone number IT AINT! and then he ran out of credit mid phone call and then had to use mine! GEESH! And as off sometime this month they arent going to be giving you the option of a free phone number you gotta pay every time you need to call them... idiots! As well as having to use the credit on our phones they give you recorded message after recorded message.. I swear I hate those things I am so glad he delt with it because I think I would have been completely rotten to them.. but hey its fixed, lets see how long for this time huh?
This week I have been named Miss Butterfingers, why I hear you ask. Mom stop laughing! I swear I have dropped anything and everything I could have this week.. and for no reason... Whatever I was holding decided it liked the floor better then being held in my hand... Ive dropped, shampoo (twice), keys, food, water bottles, movies, pretty much everything I have handled at some stage it fell on the floor... UGH! Hopefully this week is better for that and I can have my birth name back and give Miss Butterfingers to someone else! :)
Okay heres on for you... Its rained all day so far... And I enjoy when it rains for the fact I get to use my umbrella... Hey before you say anything, its pink! And it has circles on it.. one day Ill take a picture and show it off and you will have to admit I have a pretty umbrella... So anyways heres my whinge on this... whats the point of umbrellas when its raining? they need to make ones that pretty much wrap around you because yeah the top half of you stays dry but the bottom half of you gets soaking wet... the bottom of my pants are still wet from going to the store today.. that was nearly 3 hours ago.... Perhaps I should get some pink wellies to match my umbrella.... and i did think about it last year.. but lets face it, I wouldnt wear them.... I think they are the goofiest thing ever and would make me feel like I have to go fishing every time I have them on. Really what that means is I think I will live with a wet bottom half and use my pretty umbrella when it rains....
Enough complaining now I return you to your daily scheduled program................ May 05 Wow that was fast...Where in the world has this week gone? I swear it was just monday yesterday. and before yall think im nuts, no I am not complaining! Its just gone by quickly is all...
I havent really done much to the sock, its mad at me... I would be to... but I was knitting so Im not mad at me! HAHA... I didnt take any pictures of it becuase it was sulking in the corner... silly sock! :)
But what I did do was knit and finish the back (already) of the tank that I am working on.. I was slightly afraid as it was being knit up that I was going to look like a big fat waffle but then I started doing the top half and those nightmares ended and I do not think it looks like I will be waffle like any longer... That is a really good thing too because I dont think eating myself would be to nice... I like waffles.... I like knitting... but I dont like knitting things that could look like waffles...
Anyways I will be knitting the front of this tank top and love it when its all finished and wear it proudly...
Heres the bottom "I thought you would look to much like a waffle" of the tank top:
And here is the top of the shirt:
Okay mix the two colours and you will get the true colour, its not as cream as the bottom, or as yellow as the top, its a creamy yellow, the sun keeps going in and out all of a sudden so I had to use the flash and the camera werent very happy.... I will try and take better pictures once it is all finished! :) Shouldnt take me to long considering the back hasnt even taken a week to complete. I was just going to wait for the phone guy, but hes just turned up.. Ill talk about that drama later... Now just wait till he finds the wire reconnects it and comes back to tell us we got our phone line working again..... See yall later! May 01 Just a quickie...I havent made much progress on the sock, its mad at me and has been yelling things a sock shouldnt yell at a person! I did though do a bit of work on it and am passed the decrease row and just have to now knit down to the heel flap thats gonna take a while I suspect.
I picked up the new pink yarn I bought for the tank I was going to knit and I started it, did about 8-10 rows on it and realised the colour was making me want to vomit.. OKay now see I love pink I think its a pretty colour, girlie and all that fun stuff. But when I was knitting with this colour I bought it was just making me sick, kept making me think of salmon. Only it was salmon that was grinded up chewed swallowed spit back up pecked at by chickens and other sort of animals and birds possibly a shark or twenty got ahold of it then it got taken to a lab to try to be put back together added with some horrible artifical colouring then decided it couldnt be a salmon as it wasnt fit for human consumption so they turned it into balls of yarn. Seriously that is how horrible the colour got in that small space of knitting 8-10 rows. So tomorrow I get to tak it into town and beg and pleed with the yarn store to take it back and give me a non chewed on salmon colour. I think I will go with a beige or yellow colour this time round. Unfortunately though I am stuck with on ball of this yarn because of course that is the ball I started to knit with and I cant really take it back and expect them to take it back without saying anything to me, so I will keep it and it will stay hidden and only pulled out to be used in VERY SMALL quantities. I am sure eventually I will find a use for it. Just at the moment I cant think of any except as a lining for the garbage can! HAHAHA
I also finished reading Conversation With The Fat Girl by Liza Palmer. (another reason the sock is mad at me for reading instead of knitting) When I first started reading the book I just t hought oh great here we go a book that looked like it was going to be good but is actually crap. I was fooled. It started out slow but quickly made you want to keep turning pages to read more to find out what will happen between the main character and all who are involved in her life. Would I recomend it to anyone? Yep I would so here yall go, if you havent read it I would say to read it. I enjoyed it. I like the way it was wrote, it seemed real, and relatable, not at all fake and story like.
Okay now I am going to go and knit I can here the sock yelling for me.. okay truth is, its not yelling I just want to knit some more rows I want to finish the sock so I can wear it around the house.. yeah I will only be wearing one sock until I do the other one (once this one is finished that is) but it will still be a pretty sock none the less.... Its also made me want to find more and more patterns that deal with fairisle to work on as well... theres a couple that I seen in vouge knitting fall and winter that I liked, so now I think Ill pull them out and have a good look at them to tackle since I know I can do it... Good think I know the continental and english (I think its called) way of knitting so I can "pick" and "throw" my stitches which allows me to hold and knit both colours at once.. woo hoo... Ill have pictures tomorrow hopefully of what I have donw on the sock. :) |
