June 29 5.5 inches to go...5.5 inches to go on the back of sweater and then Im finished, well just have to shape the shoulders then Im finished... I sat down yesterday and did a good couple of repeats I was going to do more but it was late and I was slightly tired and I didnt want to mess up being so close so I decided not to I will try to make another good dent on it again today. :)
So I was writing this post last night when all of a sudden I heard a plop crack and a jiggle of the fire gaurd, figured perhaps it was a stick or something falling down the chimeny right??? Keep in mind not long after I got here there was a pigeon that came down the kitchen chimney so dont be surprised at what might come down them Ive learned! But you know it kinda freaked me out I sat here looking at the fireplace which SITS RIGHT NEXT TO ME!!! I seen nothing move, typed a couple more words then all of a sudden this BUZZ started and here came this fat big black thing, you know like a piece of coal but with wings OMG! I freaked out and jumped out the computer chair ran into the hallway and slammed the door shut go get Mark. "Mark I love you, will you do me a small favour and come in here for a minute please? I realise your watching a program that you havent seen before but its important" Roll of eyes "what is it?" Me starting to slightly freak thinking he wont come be my knight in shinning armour "umm well Im not sure what it is, but its big, and its a bug I think, and it buzzes!!!" "what do you mean it buzzes? Its probably a moth" "No its not a moth, Ive never heard a moth BUZZ, umm it sounds like a mobile phone on silent sat on a table when that buzzes" get a strange look and he comes in peeks the door open I run up the hallway expecting this THING to fly out at me and attack and eat me.... Im afraid of bugs what can I say?.... So nothng comes out so I walk to the door way and hes in the middle of the room looking for something big and black well dark anyways the lights were off so I couldnt see the true colour..... "Well where did it go?" me "Im not sure? I took off running when it took off flying" so we stand there then the buzz starts up again "hmm" "well its coming from somewhere over there" says me pointing towards the corner of the room/window... So he takes my brand new just bought with a pretty knitting pattern that I want to do Womens Weekly magazine over to the corner and Im thinking that magazine aint going to do nothing that was a flying bit of coal that came up! So he starts smacking the curtains and window area in attempt to get said bit of flying coal out of window so he can see whats going to eat me.... he cant find it but its also not buzzing all the time, just on and off so its rather hard to locate... He gives up and goes back to the bedroom to watch his program after spending about 10 minutes trying to find the buzzing bit of flying coal hands me the mag and my heart drops to the ground and I look at him pleading with him to kill it... But anyways he leaves I go grab my trusty can of hairspray and I swear bugs wear more of it then I do! HAHAHA So anyways I get that and go "near" the corner that the buzzing flying coal is now hidding all of a sudden I hear it and spot this thing on the window OMG! I run and go get Mark who laughs at me when he sees the hairspray and asks what I think Im going to do with it and I said I FOUND IT!! COME GET IT!!! so what does he do? he comes in looks at it tells me "oh thats just a beetle, I think its a stag beetle though, did you know they are rare?" I give him one of those looks "oh yeah? Umm so I cant kill it? will I get in trouble if I kill it? will it eat me? does it harm people? Will you catch it and let it go outside for me? please save me" HE GOES BACK OUT THE ROOM!! HE LEAVES ME WITH FLYING BUZZING PIECE OF COAL TURNED POSSIBLE STAG BEETLE AND LEAVES THE ROOM!!!!!! OMG! So fine Im brave I got my big girl pants on I open up the window I get my cup, I get my envelope, Im going to trap it and get it out the window so it can live this nasty piece of buzzing beetle THING! But I freak out it gets hairsprayed and then squashed.... then I couldnt stop scratching myself the rest of the night and I had to go to sleep but let me tell you I swear a load of bugs were going to come and get me last night... they didnt I slept alright.... but still he could have saved me by getting the bug out for me, but he identified it and I suppose figured it wouldnt kill me I could get it out, but I wonder if secretly hes just as afraid of bugs as me! HAHAHAHAHAHA Hes still my hero for at least getting close enough to try and tell me what it was and tell me it wouldnt eat me..... but my little girl pants came screaming back on when I tried to save it... I freaked thats why unfortunately its dead.... I hate bugs,,,, they shouldnt come into my house... when I go out into theres I expect to get attacked, bit, stung, crawled on freaked out by them, but I try never to kill them outside, its only when they come into my house that they die if Im unable to get them safely outside without fear of a heartattack to myself! HAHAHAHAH June 26 What are you shaping?I did no knitting Saturday, but I did do some knitting yesterday. I spoke to my mom and step father on the phone when asked what I was doing I replied "shaping my underarms" which got the response from my loving step father "Im shaping my body"..... hes a very large teddy bear so that comment nearly made me fall off the couch I was laughing so hard.....
So anyways "Im shaping my underarms" and have finished all the casting off and decreases and just have to knit straight in pattern until I can shape the shoulders and that will be the back finished. :) Im excited!
Elann has a new pattern up on their site, a free patter, but pattern none the less heres the link
Now heres my problem, I love the look of that and think it will be absolutely beautiful, except one thing, WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE WORN NORMALLY!!!!!?????? Yes excellent, show off all that hard lace work, but also show a picture of it hanging down, I dont know many people who walk around holding their skirts out fully like that, well at least I dont and if you do, umm really you dont have too! :)
Woke up today and it was raining, hmm okay thats cool... caught the weather, its to rain most the week, oh alright bummer but I got an umbrella.... Then it came on.... Wimbeldon starts today! NO WONDER! Seriously, it seems to never fail, wimbeldon means rain....wonder if it will rain enough people will stop moaning about watershortages and water meters in all the houses... personally, fix the friggin victorian era pipes and save all the water leaking out of those daily/weekly/yearly and we probably wont have as bad of a water shortage as they say we will... who knows....
Oh yes, and England won the footie match, as has Portugal... So that means next saturday they meet up.. Now I caught bits of both games yesterday, England did well, Portugal, umm lets just say I feel sorry for england because they are going up against a load of meanies/whiners/cheaters.... I couldnt believe what I was seeing in that match last night, I could only shake my head and try to remind myself they were grown adults not school children, can we just say sportsmanship hardly played a word in that game, in the whole 15 minutes I watched I saw nearly 2 fights, one guy actually headbutted another guy but behind the refs back so he didnt get sent off, I am sure FIFA will have something to say about it though as it was all caught on camera, and then there was an elbow to a guys face as well, though I dont know if that one was as intential as the headbutt, but still he got a yellow card for it... So thats why I feel sorry for England, I dont think it will be much football as much as a test to stay alive and unhurt! GEESH!
Okay theres my knitting and footie update.... If I have the back finished next post Ill give pictures with it. :) June 24 Ive made it...Im at the arm shaping point.... :) so thats 14.5 inches knitted and sitting on the couch waiting to be picked up and done. I will do it, but I wont get any knitting done today, slightly busy day for me. So hopefully tomorrow if not Monday I will get to it and take some more pictures of the sweater. Iknow its nothing exciting at the moment, as Mark calls them "just a load of pictures of fuzz". He really does make me laugh, and unfortunately at the moment hes right, becuase theres really nothing I can do with it until the rest is knitted and its all put together! HAHA
So other then that Im thinking of trying to knit a hat, now I know what your thinking its summer why???? Well simple, Ive NEVER knitted a hat, and I want to make one for Mark that he will wear in the winter while his other hat (store bought) is in the wash and he doesnt get cold. But before making him one, I have to make one so I know whats going on, it will be for my teddy bear because hes got a really small head, all I have to do is find it.... Hes lost somewhere in the bedroom.... probably found his way under the bed thinking it was safest there, boy was he kidding himself.... its a warzone under the bed of mish mashed computer bits and peices and wires galore.... I dont even go under our bed! HAHAHA but I suppose if I wish to find teddy I will have to put my war paint on and dive under!
Anyways... Im off to go drink a cup of coffee and watch some bike qualifing with Mark before Im off to busy myself for the day (of no knitting *sniff*) June 22 11.5 inches...Thats my sweater pattern... I have about 11.5 inches of it knit already. 100 rows in total. As you can see its coming however slow it may be, its still coming along! :) The more I knit this sweater the more its making me want to hurry up and finish it so thatI may wear it! :D Yesterday I had to fix two mistakes, but they were simple enough of dropping the four stitches and ripping only those back and fixing the cable that was messed up. :) I did it right. The first time I completely ripped the sweater out it was due to the same thing, messed up a cable tried to fix it, but cabled it one to many times so it was all out of whack. Instead of putting the sweater to the side and coming back to it later I ripped it all apart. Im not doing that this time! Ive got 100 rows in- 11.5 inches, and have started using the 3rd ball, thats alot to rip and if I HAVE to do it, Im not sure I will continue to try to make the sweater. So basically Im allowed no more mistakes! HAHAHA Tried to take a picture to show the lacey detail at the bottom but it didnt work, just looked like a jumbled load of knitting so that picture will come when its pinned out and looks better and you can actually see the detail of it. :) ooo I cant wait I shall knit all day long on this... okay well I probably wont but I do want to finish this!! :) Last night was the season finale of Desperate Housewives Season 2... OMG! I cant wait now until season 3 starts!! when ever it does start in the states I will do my best to avoid everything being said just like I did for season 2 until it was shown here. :) I dont know what it is about that show but I am so hooked... Just kind of sucks its not on until 10 at night and last night it was a double so that was me up till 12, and then up again at 6, Im still debating if I should go back to bed.. but I do want to knit. haahha okay off to go read some blogs, check emails, drink coffee, and WAKE UP! :) Have a great day everyone... and mom while your packing the millionth box remember to breath and it will all be over soon and you will be walking around your farm ready to run back inside at the sound of a coyote very soon! :) June 19 64 and countingIm rather happy to report that the knitting is coming along nicely! Very happy with it. Now that Ive stopped stressing over the fact Im going to screw it up AGAIN its coming along really well! Mind you last night I lovet my dpn (double pointed needle) so I just grabbed a smaller knitting needle and am usingthat for my cable needle currently. I know its not the "correct" thing to do, but I cant find the dpn and I dont have a clue where I lost it at either. I did look in the couch where I thought it was, aint there... Looked in the bed where I was at last night knitting but it werent there, and soon as I needed it I couldnt find it in there. I looked in the hallway where it may have dropped on the way to the bedroom it werent in there.. oh well... Im still knitting and its still looking really good!
There are a couple more things I wouldnt mind buying the yarn for and casting on, but I would at least like to finish the back of this sweater first, only because I know its still going to take me ages to finish... Ive only got 64 rows completed so far on it, I gotta measure that for length but I will do that for the next update so it seems like Ive done even more! hehe..
Weather was really lovely here this weekend, nice warm and sunny, yesterday it was warm and cloudy, todya its cloudy and looks as though it may eventually rain and its a lovely comfortable 22 (or will be anyways) Got most the laundry done late last week while the weather was warm and really sunny, easy to dry clothes that way!:D and today Im just doing the last couple of bits and will hang that out to dry around the house... glad its only a couple of bits!
Alright Im off to go knit some more on the sweater and drink a couple more cups of coffee.. yum! June 16 6 Days on hows it going?Well lets see, Miss Teddy is still in a load of bits on the desk here, doesnt have her brother Mr Teddy yet, doesnt even have yarn for it... But I swear I will knit my nephew a matching teddy as well! I have to, Ive been a bad aunt and havent knitted them a single thing....
As far as the sweater, hows that going, Ive gotten past the bottom cuff, now remember Im working the back at the moment, and its going slow, but it is going! :) I messed up a couple of times, just being sleepy had to fix those and that was fine, mind you I did nearly fling it out the window at one stage I was so hacked off with it. But its behaving itself for the moment and I have started knitting the main body repeat bit of it... only 2 repeats in, so it is going slow. but its going.
I cant find my sewing needles, doesnt surprise me though! I tend to loose alot of thing, like my Grandpa used to say, "Id loose my head if it werent attached" I swear its true! Thing is my knitting set up isnt much of a set up as much as a load of bags with things shoved into it! I keep saying that I want to buy me some of those plastic storage boxes so that I can make more sense out of my knitting stuff and hopefully not loose things. I just havent gotten around to buying them, every time I go into town I forget, or I already have to much stuff to carry back home.
Anyways the whole point of wanting to find my needles is so I can create a "lifeline" in my knitting JUST IN CASE something happens that I dont thorw the sweater away for good. I really do like it thats why its not found the bin yet.
Weather was lovely last week, then it got a bit rainy and cold earlier this week and now its back to sunny and warm. Its screwed with my ear as thats been hurting me yesterday and I went to bed early I just werent feeling very well. Seem to feel better today after a nice long sleep. My ear is still plugged up and slightly tender, liveable with and I pretend not to notice it, but it still is clogged and that I notice! HAHAHA
So this morning I woke up and have been washing clothes and have knitted a couple rows to the sweater Im going to finish off a bit more of the laundry (its nearly done!! Love warm weather for doing laundry in! hang it out and takes so little time to dry...) So yeah, finish off the laundry and clean up the house and knit.... Thats going to be my day and probably weekend...
Someone asked about knitting in the heat in UKHK, I dont mind it, as long as Im not using something really itchy, I am a realively sweaty hand and feet person anyways so I suppose I am used to it. The sweater I am using is Cotton I think and its not to bad....
Right Im off now Im rambling.... June 10 Im not entirely useless...I made a bear, well I made bear parts! It still needs sewing together and stuffing! I should have had this here bear finished a week ago but I am slow.... The sun has also been a big factor, how are you to knit when its so warm and sunny outside that you just want to go play in the sun?
Here bear parts are taking in the sun... (those with a children in the room look away now, may be upsetting to smaller audiences)
It looks like a bear, and its not a sunburnt bear, its just peices of a pink strippy bear. :) all laid out in an attempt to make it look natural. Those are herbs behind the foot stole that bear is laying on, they are not dead, they are not weeds, they just have slight sun stroke from lack of water from yours truely, I ment to get them yesterday forgot so I did water them today and I will water them again tonight so they can liven up a bit.... Englang our playing thier first game in the World Cup as I type this, they have already scored a goal in the first 4 minutes of the game, WAAAA HOOO... Outside here is like a freaking ghost town, even the kids that are normally in the park arent over there.... I could watch tv if I wanted to and not have to turn it up to hear whats being said... Before you think I am moaning, I am not! Just when the park is full and it is directly across the street from us it can get rather loud in the summer or any warm day so I dont get much tv watching in on nice hot days.. but today I could... just umm I dont feel like it! HAHAH So anyways Marks in the bedroom with the AC because its only a ripe 28c today! and hes turning into an icecube in there... Im going to go in and try to reknit that blasted sweater I tried to make a couple weeks back, teddy will have to stay in bits until I get more stuffing from the craft store... I dont feel like sewn bits of teddy instead I will enjoy teddy bits... HAHAHA GOOOOOOOOOO ENGLAND! June 05 tiny updateSo my sweater is still sitting in a heap of balled up yarn in a bag not being touched let alone even been shown the light. I have been so mad at it... So instead I have been knitting my neice a teddy bear... I have a front a back 4 bits to make 2 ears, a head, and 1.5 arms... its got no legs or paw bits for the feet and is still needing half the arm knitted sewed and stuffed to be completed. I am using the same pattern I used to knit Marks nephews teddy bear and its going MUCH quicker this time round, I think its due to better knitting skills! :) I really should have had this teddy bear already completed but I stopped knitting full stop on it on the second day... So there ya go perhaps I should get it finished huh? The weather has been absolutely beautiful this weekend Sunny and Warm!!! WOO HOO Loads of people walking around look like lobsters I just laugh at them... though I would be one myself if I had stayed out in the sun all weekend but I didnt... I stayed out of it mostly and did bits and bobs that kept me busy. Alright theres my update that is about full of really nothing at all... Ill post some pictures of the teddy bear bits once I pull the camera outand take some maybe tomorrow I will work on getting the rest of the peices finished for her... :) |
